Artefact of the Month

POSTCARD OF LANGTON MATRAVERS
There is often an element of mystery attached to artefacts in the museum's collection.  The museum's catalogue record says that this card was produced by E A Sweetman and Son Ltd and that it was presented to the museum by David F W Saville.

Where was the photographer standing when this picture for this postcard was taken?
When do you think it was taken?
Which buildings do you recognise?

Do contact us through this website if you think you know the answer to any of these questions.

DOLL’S PERAMBULATOR
Dimensions: L: 13cm H: 9cm W: 9cm
This little toy has a wooden body, with a detachable canvas hood and metal wheels. It seems to have an ‘L’ on one side, though this may just be the result of scratches on the paint. There are two seats inside the pram. It was probably hand made, as it has no commercial maker’s mark on it. The pram was donated to the Museum by Mrs May Duncan, who used to live at 77 High Street, Langton Matravers, and died in 2003.
